“The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’” – Mark 6:30-31
Way to go doing the first four practices! Now spend a few minutes in a quiet place with Jesus.
“He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.” – Mark 4:34
Ask Jesus to explain what he was teaching you through the 5 Practices: God is Here, Speak with God, Hear their Story, Eat Together, and Debrief.
“Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, ‘What does this mean?’ Some, however, made fun of them and said, ‘They have had too much wine.’ Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: ‘Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.’” – Acts 2:12-14
Ask Jesus to reveal to you how those you journeyed with [through hearing their story and eating together] may be asking “what does this (Jesus’ Good News) mean?”
“Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, ‘See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.’ The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well.” – John 5:14-15
Go find them again. Help them recognize that it was Jesus they encountered.
