“For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you. ‘The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.’” – Acts 17:23-25
Thank God for giving life and breath to your loved ones every day of their lives.
Ask God whose story he wants you to turn your curiosity towards. Listen to someone's story “with quietness and curiosity”. (Pray and ask God to reveal the stories of those He has placed in your path)
Ask the Holy Spirit to give you ears to hear where Jesus was at work in their life.
Listen to someone's story. Anything from "how was your week" to "tell me your story". Be aware of what the Holy Spirit is highlighting as they talk.
Ask a spiritual question. Anything from "does that part seem strange to you?" to "where was God in all that suffering?"
Try to help them bring their experience into conversation with God. ‘What would you want to say to God about that?’ Or ‘How do you think God feels about that?’
Respond to their story in a way that helps them pay more attention to the Holy Spirit in their life. Praying with them is great. Help them to ‘feel felt’ by God.
