SOAR is for Families!

SOAR is for the whole family!

Maybe you’ve been cheering your child on from day one, or maybe SOAR snuck up on you, and now you’re wondering what exactly they signed up for. Either way, you’re in the right place.

SOAR isn’t just about students going off on an adventure. It’s about families growing, learning, and experiencing something together—even if you didn't SOAR yourself.

Before SOAR: What You Can Do

👂 Ask how they’re feeling

They might be pumped, nervous, or just focused on finding their favorite hoodie.

🙏 Pray with them (or for them)

Even if they’re not sure what to pray for, knowing you’re praying for them matters.

🎒 Help them pack

They’ll forget something—help them so they’re not texting you about a toothbrush.

✉️ Give them a note for later

A short, encouraging message tucked into their bag can be a great surprise during a tough moment.

🎢 Talk about handling challenges

SOAR will stretch them in new ways. Ask them what they think will be hard and remind them they can handle tough moments.

While They’re Away: What to Do

✔ Keep praying for them. Even if they don’t know what to ask for, they’ll need it.

✔ Stay connected with what SOAR is about so you can ask meaningful questions later.

✔ Give them space to experience SOAR fully. Resist the urge to check in too often. Trust that growth is happening, even if you don’t hear about it right away.

✔ Get ready for the stories. And the laundry. There will be plenty of both.

When They Come Home: Give It Time

Some kids come home with 100 stories, and some don’t say much at all. If your child doesn’t talk about SOAR right away, don’t worry—it’ll come out eventually (probably at the most random moment).

👂 Listen when they’re ready

The best stories often come out in bits and pieces.

🙌 Celebrate what stood out

Even if they can’t fully explain it yet, something changed for them.

💬 Keep the conversation going

Ask simple, open-ended questions like, “What’s something that stuck with you—good or hard?”

😴 Let them rest

They might just need sleep, snacks, and some quiet time before they’re ready to talk.

In Summary

Your child might come home exhausted, full of inside jokes, and somehow missing a sock. They also might be carrying some pretty incredible stories.

Either way, you get to be the one who helps them figure out what’s next.
Enjoy - it will be awesome!!
